The 2017 ERCA Annual Dinner was a fantastic success!

On the 18th of February after months of planning we held our first ERCA Annual Dinner in Sydney. The venue was Pier One, a hotel located right on Sydney Harbour's Watsons Bay, virtually under the harbour bridge.

We had almost 50 guests attend on the night which was very pleasing. ERCA members, family, and friends came from all around Australia, plus we had some special international members who came from different parts of the world to attend the dinner and catch up with rally friends including:

  • Lars and Annette Rolner,  veterans of 3 ERA Rallies, flew in from Germany

  • Andy Inskip, everyone knows Andy, who came from chilly England to sunny Australia to fly the flag for the ERA

  • Jo Worth, who hopped across from New Zealand to join in on the festivities.

The highlight of the evening was the honoring of our Club Patron Gerry Crown. Club president Rhys Timms had prepared "This is your 'Rally' life - Gerry Crown" which recounted many funny stories from Gerry's long and illustrious rally career. It proved to be a battle for the microphone, as every time Rhys mentioned a funny story, Gerry would grab the microphone to tell the "real" story of what had actually happened.

We also announced on the night that ERCA members have been invited to take part in the 2018 Classic Outback Trial (COT), which is shaping up to be a 3 week tour from Melbourne to Alice Springs in Central Australia, then touring back to Sydney. The tour will also include one week of competition as part to the COT, making it a must attend. More information coming soon.

The ERCA Committee would like to thank everyone who made the effort to attend and everyone seemed to agree that it was a great night.
